Autor: Maurel, Dominique
Notas: Resumen: In this article, the authors offer an overview of the state of research related to the concept of organizational memory. They discuss the way the various disciplines involved (management and information sciences and technology) perceive the concept of organizational memory and then the authors discuss the roles that information, its control, and related policy play within organizations. Organizational memory is recognized as a reserve of static knowledge, easy to record (as digital or print records, as well as data bases, etc.), but it is also the result of a cognitive process (sharing of information , knowledge and interpretations among individuals) linked to the organizational actors and to their ways of understanding a situation or problem. The authors describe scientific reseach on the types of storage and their material media and on the process of storage and the functions of information management. Following this, they recognize that archivist face several challengers when organizational memory is recognized as a composition characterized by several information levels and types and various material media. Taking as their point of departure a holistic concept of organizational memory, the authors conclude their article with a proposed operational definition of term "organizational memory" itself.
