Notas: Sumario: Invited to give a speech in 1991 to the members af the Association of Canadian Archivists, the German archivist Hans Booms used the acassion to share his latest reflections regarding the problem of evaluation of archival sources in general, and, more specifically, regarding the situation of Germany following the reunification. Now the author recalls the analysis that the undertook in 1972 on the attempts by the former German Democratic Republic to apply a "theory of value" which would permit the formation of an archival heritage. Rather than this Marxist-Leninist approach, Hans Booms proposed a "documentation plan" as a point of departure for the process of evaluation. Thirty years later, from the vantage point of the experience he has fained in the Archives of the German Federal Republic, Hans Booms proposes a new process of evaluation, one better adapted to the archival reality. The application of this method is divided into three steps: a documentation plan containing precise historical data on the period when the documents were created, an analysis of the administrative structure of the organization creating the documents, and, finally, an examination of the content of the "registraturs".Sumario: El autor dirigió hasta su jubilación en 1989 (año de la caída del Muro de Berlín) los archivos de la antigua RDA (República Democrática Alemana). También presidió el CIA (Consejo Internacional de Archivos). Estudia el planteamiento de la Archivística en los países al otro lado del Telón de Acero, que aplicaron en la valoración documental las normas del materialismo dialéctico.
