Title: Les collections photographiques de la Ville de Paris / dossier établi par Jean-Philippe Dumas, Yves Gagneux, Jean-Paul Gandolfo

Sumario: In Paris, the municipal institutions in charge of cultural heritage are now largely open to contemporary photographic works, even though some of these institutions are still keen on preserving the distinctive characteristics of their collections. However, the management of these collections raises new problems. Museum regulations are not really adapted to the handling of photographic material donated by artists. The conservation of endangered works, when the artist still has a moral right on his work, can be complex. Faced with very various requests and many possibilities with regard to support and types of reproduction, curators also need to define strict methodological and deontological rules for the exhibition of contemporary photographs.
