Notes: Resumen: Is it legitimate to publish documents which, at the time of their creation, were not intended to be communicated to a large public? In this article, the author shares her research on the current interes among readers in published personal archives from public figures. With reference to two works featuring Marilyn Monroe and Kurt Cobain, Annie Lecompte-Chauvin summarizes and critiques their content and their intellectual and physical presentation while addressing the question of the legitimacy of publishing such intimate texts. She stresses the question of whether it makes sense to complain about the publication of works which reveal the depths of their authors' minds and allow the public to experience emotons upon reading intimate archives. Previously available only to researches and university people, archival documents are becoming available to a large public through this means of communication, in spite of the reservations of those who are critical of the development
