Títol: Production et reproductibilité [Texto impreso] : les archives historiques de la société Cartier / Jean-Gabriel Lopez
Autor: Lopez, Jean-Gabriel
Notes: Resumen: The historical collections kept within Cartier's department of archives represent a complex and substantial body of knowledge. They were first conceived as high quality documentary tools. Since the 1900s, these archives were mainly used for documentary needs concerning production and valuation expertise. They were always considered as high precision tools and are still used nowadays.
They reproduce and reflect the creative heritage of the company, and are now also appreciated for their specific historical and aesthetic qualities. These characteristics bring another specificity to the collections, adding a new component to the company's patrimony. By reproducing these archives through digitalization, a closer relationship with the information contained in the document was introduced. Yet at the same time it eventually brings a distance with the original document, because of preservation and accessibility reasons that can't be avoided. With the dematerialization process and its perception, other issues are raised, such as the integrity and durability of the heritage and connection to maintain with the original documents.
The implementation of digitalization projects and facsimile from the collection of large framed negatives and drawings has made possible the confrontation of these constraints with the limitations of the digitalization and printing techniques available in the market-place
