Sumario: Acidity is a source of paper degradation. The knowledge of acidification of a document may serve several purposes: evaluation of its condition, discussion of an eventual deacidification treatment and evaluation of this treatment. The existing normalised procedures for the measurement of the pH of paper are not fit to be applied to historic documents, because they require too much sample or they leave visible traces after application in-situ. Moreover, these methods are too less area-specific. In this paper will be described the application of a method for pH measurement on micro-samples and its comparision with existing methods.
